How to Display CAN Fuel Level in the TT2 Fuel Module

How to configure the CAN fuel level parameter and Fuel Tank Report settings in LCM to display fuel level data from vehicle CANbus in the TT2 Fuel module.

Updated today

Introduction

This article explains how to configure the Locator Control Manager (LCM) object settings so that TrustTruck2 (TT2) displays fuel level data collected from the vehicle CANbus in the Fuel module.

You will need to configure the Fuel Level parameter, set up the constants table, and activate the Fuel Tank Report. All actions are performed in the LCM platform object settings.

πŸ’‘ Tip: For fuel level configuration using an additional Fuel Level Sensor (FLS) instead of CAN, see Configuration of Fuel Level Input from FLS in Object Settings.

1 Requirements

Before proceeding, verify the following:

  • The device must be able to collect data from the vehicle CANbus.

  • The CAN fuel level1 parameter must be enabled in the IO parameter list.

  • The vehicle must be capable of providing fuel level data through CANbus.

2 Configuring the CAN Fuel Level Parameter

2.1 Setting Up the Fuel Level Parameter

In the LCM object settings, locate the configurable parameter list and find the Fuel Level parameter row.

Configure the parameter as follows:

  1. In the Parameter1 column, select CAN fuel level1.

  2. Set the function to Linear in the Function column.

  3. Set the Low column value to 1.

  4. Set the High column value to the maximum fuel tank capacity in liters.

  5. Press the SET button under the Set constants column. The page will reload and a constants table will appear.

2.2 Configuring the Constants Table

The constants table should contain 2 rows. You can add rows by pressing the Add row button or remove rows by pressing the Delete button.

  1. In the first row, set both X and Y columns to 0.

  2. In the second row, set X to 250 and Y to the maximum fuel tank capacity in liters (same value as the High column).

  3. Press the Save button. The page will reload.

2.3 Recalculating Fuel Data

After configuring the constants, press the Recalculate button for the Fuel level parameter. A pop-up window will appear where you need to enter the date from which you want to recalculate the history.

⚠️ Warning: The maximum recalculation range is 3 months. Recalculation time can vary from a few minutes to several hours depending on the number of received records and the selected time range.

3 Configuring Fuel Tank Report Parameters

Scroll to the Fuel Tank Report Parameters section at the bottom of the object settings page. You can apply settings from the recommended templates below or configure your own values.

To activate the Fuel module and save your settings:

  1. Press the Save button under Fuel Tank Report Parameters.

  2. The page will reload and the Fuel module in TT2 will begin recalculating data.

  3. After recalculation completes, the Fuel module will display the collected information.
