Introduction
Before you create multiple objects in LCM, make sure that the SIM cards for these objects already exist in LCM. If they don't, create them first.
1 Download the Template File
This page is used both to download the template and, later, to upload the completed file.
After you log in to LCM:
In the left menu, click Objects.
Click Create new object.
Click Create multiple objects from file.
Click Download template file.
Tip: The template is getting updated regularly, so check for a new copy periodically.
2 Fill in the Template
Open the downloaded template and fill in one row per object, using the reference below:
Here is a table showing what to enter in every column:
Column | Field | What to enter |
A | Nr | Row number of the object in the table. |
B | client_id | Client's ID in LCM (you see it in the Clients menu. It is shown below this table how to find it). |
C | object_name | By default, it is the device's serial number, but you can use any. |
D | object_description | You can use any. |
E | phone_number | Device's IMSI number. If it's a Telia number (starts with 453), enter the MSISDN instead. |
F | serial | Device's serial number. |
G | imei | Device's IMEI. |
H | hardware_type | Hardware model, e.g. FM-HCV5 (you can see the correct hardware type name in the Objects menu. It is shown below this table how to find it). |
I | object_template | Object's template in LCM (you can see the correct template name in the Objects menu. It is shown below this table how to find it). |
J | max_delay | Minutes before the object turns grey in TrustTrack, meaning it stopped sending data to the TrustTrack server. Default: 2. |
K | payment_plan | Payment plan of the object that was confirmed with the sales manager (you can see the correct payment plan name in the Objects menu. It is shown below this table how to find it). |
L | fm_password | The same password that is entered in "Authorized numbers" in the device configuration, needed for downloading tacho files in TrustTrack. You can leave it empty if this solution is not needed. |
M | vehicle_category | Vehicle category: LCV, HCV, or Other. Use Other if it is not specified. |
N | plate_number | Vehicle's plate number. Optional to enter. |
O | make | Vehicle's make. Optional to enter. |
P | model | Vehicle's model. Optional to enter. |
Q | vin | Vehicle's VIN. Optional to enter. |
The client ID can be found in the Clients menu:
Click Objects.
You will see the client ID.
The existing hardware and template names can be found in the Objects menu:
Click Objects.
Click Create new object.
You will see the Hardware list; click on it and choose the needed hardware from it.
Once the hardware type is selected, you can see an object template for this hardware.
Tip: If there is no needed hardware type, contact Support to add it.
The payment plan names can be found in the Objects menu:
Click Objects.
Click Create new object.
Select the client.
You will see all available payment plan names.
Important: All data must be entered correctly; if the values differ even slightly from what they should be, LCM might not be able to accept them and the objects will not be created.
3 Format the Numeric Columns
After the table is filled, select every column that contains only digits (e.g. client ID, phone number, IMEI), then:
Right-click the selected columns.
Click Format Cells...
Click Custom.
Select 0.
Click OK.
Important: Skipping this step can corrupt long numbers, such as the IMEI or phone number, by converting them to scientific notation (e.g. 8.62E+14) when you save the file.
4 Save the File as CSV
Save the completed template as a .csv file.
5 Upload the File to LCM
After you log in to LCM:
In the left menu, click Objects.
Click Create new object.
Select Create multiple objects from file.
Click Choose File and select your saved CSV file.
Click Upload.
Tip: LCM allows up to 300 objects per file, but we recommend uploading no more than 100 at a time.
6 Confirm the Objects Were Added
Once the upload finishes, a confirmation message appears at the bottom of the page confirming the objects were added:
Important: The upload can take a few minutes or more — don't reload the page while it's processing.
