Updated over a week ago

Description:

Instructions of how to upload and update device firmware (FW). It is important that device's be equipped with the latest FW, as newer versions fix bugs present in previous versions.

Required information:

IMEI or other object identifier

Steps:

2- Go to the Download section of the documentation page and download appropriate FW file clicking on the file name. (This action may not be necessary if the FW file has already been uploaded to LCM, see below).

4- Login to LCM superadmin.

5- Go to Device FW update and check if the FW file is already uploaded:

  • If it is it will appear in the list after typing it in the search bar.

  • If it is not. Go to Device FW Add and upload it. An OK message will appear if the upload is successful.

6- Go back to Device FW Update, search for the target object and tick it.

7- Search the FW file in the search bar and select it (if multiple files appear, choose the one with the root_ prefix, it is the one uploaded by Support to LCM superadmin). Then click on Update.

If the FW file extension does not correspond to the set Hardware of the object, the upload will be rejected and an error message will appear: Error occurred! Incompatible hardwares: <object name>

8- If set Hardware and file extension correspond, then the object record should become red and "FW update status" column should indicate "Waiting for upload"

Next time the object sends a record the upload will start and the colour of the record will become green and the status will read "Uploading"

Note: In the two preceding statuses, you can always cancel the FW upload by ticking the object and pressing on "Cancel" button on the top Search menu, colour will turn blue and status will read "Canceled":

If upload is not successful, colour will turn purple and and status will read "Timeout". Retry the upload again if that happens.

If FW file is detected as incompatible with the device model, it will not be accepted and the message "File not accepted" will be shown in FW update status. Make sure that the object has the correct Hardware selected and that the FW file is appropriate for the model.

Once the configuration has been fully uploaded to the device, the colour will again change to brown and the status will read "File successfully Updated".

The device is now equipped with the new FW and will reset itself to fully apply all changes.

Note: If the device reports to a custom server, it must be redirected to Ruptela server for one time. Then the devices will take the FW update and then disconnect from Ruptela server and will continue to send data to the custom server as usual after the update is done.

In order to redirect the device, send it the following SMS command:

"smspassword econnect APNname,APNuser,APNpassword,92.62.134.34,9015,TCP"

If the devices do not have SMS password in configuration, then ignore the SMS password part, just start the SMS text with one space before econnect. If there is just APN name (without APN user or APN password) then your SMS command will look something like this:

" econnect APNname,,,92.62.134.34,9015,TCP"
