Determination of the used subgroup for configuration using sms lcvselect (LCV auto selection)
Determination of the used subgroup for configuration using sms lcvselect (LCV auto selection)
Updated over a week ago

In many situations, it can be very useful to be able to determine the used subgroup required for configuration by sending SMS.

To use this method, we recommend using the following algorithm:

1) upload the latest available firmware to the tracker, which will ensure that the latest libraries and data on the latest integrated vehicle models are added .

2) connect the tracker according to the recommendations described in the manuals (if the manuals have not yet been developed, connect using one of the methods described at the link https://ruptela.zendesk.com/knowledge/articles/11543949393181/en-us?brand_id=360001930557 )

3) upload to the tracker configuration with all available IO events activated, you can also manually select subgroups (even for Kia, Volvo or other manufacturers you can select the VAG group) for all physically connected CAN wires of the tracker (i.e. activate and CAN1 and CAN2 if they are physically connected).

4)The following criteria must be met:

  1. The engine is turned on.

  2. The vehicle is not moving.

send an SMS:

lcvselect ,

With space and comma(!)

5) after sending SMS, wait for a response in the format "LCV auto selection is in progress", after which you should receive a response similar to

"Configured group: Citroen/Citroen2 can2 ch:1"
"Configured group: Ford/Ford2"

6) if you get the answer "LCV auto selection is in progress" and after it "No CAN data were received" - then you will need to change the connection location and try to connect to other wires (using EasyCan).

7) If you still receive a response SMS "No CAN data were received" - it means that data from the on-board system could not be received and the model of a non-vehicle is not supported.

8) after the required subgroup for reading onboard data is selected, we recommend downloading the configuration with automatically selected subgroups

and activating all available io events for the specified subgroup.

9) upload the final configuration to the tracker.

We also recommend that you familiarize yourself with the available description of this functionality at the link: https://doc.ruptela.com/articles/#!tracking-devices-publication/lcvselect
