How to troubleshoot the EasyCAN accesory

When configuring a device on your tracking system, you can encounter an issue in which the device does not seem to provide any CAN/OBD data.

In this article, we will address the troubleshooting steps to follow when you are using the EasyCAN accessory to ensure the incorrect usage of this accessory is not the cause of this issue.

Requirements:

  1. A device currently installed that reads CAN/OBD data from a vehicle.

  2. A multimeter (Optional/Recommended)

Actions:

EasyCAN verification steps:

  • Please make sure that it is connected as per the diagram shared below.

  • Please make sure that the EasyCAN is indeed receiving 5V of power supply from the 1-Wire Power Supply cable. If possible it is recommended to check with a multimeter, often times it has not been correctly powered.

  • Make sure that the CAN interface you are connecting to the EasyCAN is the same one you are configuring to the device.
