Remote Device Password Update

This article describes how to recover the device USB communication using a remote solution when the password is forgotten.

Explanation:

Users may occasionally forget or lose their device password, making access through the Advanced Configurator impossible. To assist our clients in successfully recovering device access, we offer the solution of the DMP (Device Management Platform) which is Ruptela's web-based tool that allows Service Providers to remotely manage their device fleet — including firmware updates, configuration uploads, basic parameter changes, and command execution — without requiring physical access to the device.

Guidelines:

1. Identify the devices that reject all the access tries.

2. In your browser enter your DMP account in the following address https://dmp.ruptela.com/.

3. In your account, upload the configuration file; this may or may not contain a password, in Your files, Upload file, select the file and click in Upload.

4. Once the devices are selected, clic in “Update/Configure”, in the left window, clic in the “Update CFG” textbox, select the CFG file, and “Update

5. The device’s status now will be “Queue”.

6. For each affected device the user needs to perform the following:

· Disconnect the main power

· Insert an active SIM card with public APN

· Connect the main power

7. Now the device will start the update process

Expected outcome: The user will be able to access the device through the Advanced Configurator. This confirms that the file was programmed successfully into the device.
