How to enable geofencing?
Updated over a week ago

Description:

Geofencing allows you to control the vehicle using predefined areas – geofences. You can alert the driver, immobilize the vehicle if it is leaving a geofence, or simply monitor vehicle inputs within a geofence.

Here is explained a way on how to set up a device, that if a device will enter a specific geozone, it will change a profile.

Geofences allow receiving this information about the vehicle:

  • If the vehicle has entered or left a geofence.

  • Analog and/or digital input values within or outside the geofence.

  • Speed within or outside the geofence.

Required information:

Object configuration (CFG) file

Steps:

1 - Make sure that the original configuration does not have any other profile switches (operators, parameters, blacklists, etc.).

2 - Use only the newest firmware and configurator, as the older versions do not support such profile switching.

3 - To have the same IOs list on other profiles, you can just simply use the function Copy from:

Right-click on the "Profile (no.)" tab and click on "Copy from (no.)":

NOTE: profiles can differ, it is just an example of how you can copy it with two clicks.

4 - On both profiles (main and second one) which you will use should be enabled these IOs:

The parameter "Geozone group" on the first profile - usual mode outside geozone:

As you can see in our example, we are configuring the device to switch to the 3rd profile when inside geozone. Here is how IO should be set on the 3rd profile in order to come back to the 1st profile:

5 - The main point to import/create a geozone:

For easier geozone creation, we recommend using our "Device center" mode. Here You can create a geozone by directly selecting points on the map:

6 - After the configuration file will be successfully updated, we recommend resetting the device. It can be done with the following SMS command:

<password> reset
