Introduction

The Camera functionality of Ruptela trackers generates pictures automatically or on demand. These pictures are automatically named with the creation timestamp in HEX format.

This article explains how to convert a snapshot's HEX filename into a readable date and time.

⚠️ Important: The Creation date in a file's Properties does not reflect when the picture was taken. Always use the HEX filename conversion described below.

3 Conversion Steps

  1. Copy the name of the snapshot file (the HEX portion before the file extension).

  2. Paste the snapshot name into the conversion box and click Convert hex timestamp to human date.

4 Result

The converter will display the timestamp in three formats:

  • GMT - the date and time in UTC

  • Your time zone - the date and time adjusted to your detected local timezone

  • Decimal timestamp/epoch - the Unix timestamp in decimal format
